TOYOTA TACOMA

This build started as a chat many months ago, with the idea brewing for months - it finally came around to getting tubes cut and burned in. Alongside a tube bumper and skid plate up front, a rear boxed out bumper was in order; in addition, was a body mount chop to keep the newly installed (and larger) tires from rubbing.

Some quick renditions were in order to get an idea of what was wanted - radiused upper, mitered ends, push bar, etc. were all debated and decided on.

I had a bumper previously built that fit all the dimensions (surprisingly enough), but this would turn out to be an option for a different vehicle.

This would ultimately turn out to be the desired design and style the customer wanted. With the dimensions already acquired, and a short time line for the vehicle to be dropped off, I pre cut most all the tubes and got the entirety of the bumper tacked together.

Utilizing some 411 scalloped 1.5” cups I plan to mount the bumper under the cross bar with these. A spreader bar will connect two of these, and allow for the vertical tubes from the bumper to run back/down and mount to these. I also got some tabs tacked up for the lights and pre-notched the tubes that will mount up the skid plate.

With the truck dropped off, it was all systems go. I began by rough cutting out the plastic lower chin grill and its bracketry and pulling out the front crash support. There were some additional brackets for towing the truck that were removed as well.
